Kundalini Yoga in St Albans, with Laura Hinde

Awaken awareness, open the heart, and reconnect with your inner stillness.

Kundalini Yoga is a dynamic blend of movement, breath, sound, and meditation — a practice that awakens the energy of consciousness and helps you live with greater clarity, vitality, and grace. Each class is an invitation to move beyond the noise of the mind and rest into the quiet rhythm of your true self.

The Yoga of Awareness

Known as the Yoga of Awareness, Kundalini Yoga works on every level of your being — physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It combines ancient yogic techniques with a deeply meditative focus, helping you align with your true self and release stress and tension from modern life.

This practice gently awakens the kundalini energy — the creative life force that lies dormant at the base of the spine — guiding it upward through the chakras to bring balance, insight, and inner radiance.

Kundalini Yoga is suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. You don’t need to be flexible or experienced — simply open and curious.

What to Expect in Class

Each class unfolds as a journey: grounding, awakening, softening, and returning home to stillness.

We begin by tuning in with the sacred mantra Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, connecting with inner guidance and the wisdom of the teachings. You’ll then be guided through a kriya — a structured sequence of postures, breathwork, and focused movement designed to strengthen the body and balance the nervous system.

We include pranayama (conscious breath practices), mudras (hand gestures that direct energy flow), and mantra chanting to open the heart and uplift the spirit. Classes often end with deep relaxation to the sound of the gong, allowing vibrations to soothe the nervous system and guide you into a state of profound rest and renewal.

The combination of sound, breath, and movement creates a deeply healing experience — one that many describe as calming, cleansing, and quietly transformative.

The Deeper Meaning of Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is not just a form of exercise — it’s a path of awakening consciousness. The word Kundalini refers to the latent energy coiled at the base of the spine. Through breath, movement, sound, and awareness, this energy rises through the energy centres of the body, clearing blocks and expanding perception.

As this energy flows more freely, it brings a sense of wholeness — the realisation that everything you seek is already within you. The practice harmonises the physical and subtle bodies, deepening your relationship with your own truth.

Regular practice can help you move through life with greater ease, purpose, and joy — grounded in the body, open in the heart, and steady in the spirit.

A Space for Stillness

At The Yoga Hall, our Kundalini Yoga classes are held in an atmosphere of warmth and reverence. Candles, mantra, and the sound of the gong create a sanctuary for stillness amid the busyness of life.

Each class is an invitation to pause, to listen, and to reconnect with the light within — so that you can carry that calm, radiant presence into the world beyond the mat.
