Zen Meditation

This Mindfulness for Health and Wellbeing course was put together by Zen Master Daizan Skinner, and as such draws on the centuries of experience and understanding passed down in the Zen school. The course is not Buddhist or religious, nor does it require you to be anything but inquisitive and interested in your own development. You need no prior experience to do this course, but to gain the full benefits you need to commit to 30 mins practice each day for the full 8 weeks.

We will explore a variety of topics including:

  • Stress and time pressures
  • Physical pain
  • Difficult emotions
  • Roll stress
  • Taking care of yourself, nurturing wellbeing
  • Living at an elevated level of function

The meditation techniques covered include:

  • Body scan
  • Counting the breath
  • Following the breath
  • Mindful movement and walking meditation
  • Mindful living
  • The practice of presence

This course is designed to contribute to personal growth and wellbeing and is not intended to act as, or replace, a form of therapy. Courses are open to a wide range of interested students, but are not suitable for those with psychiatric illness or serious mental health conditions, e.g. paranoia or schizophrenia.
